Five Community Projects
1. Visit a Senior Facility
Get creative! Visit a senior facility with a group
of friends and present a play or perform a concert.
Or you could read to the residents (maybe a story
or poem of your own!) or throw a party for them!

2. Plant a Community Garden
Gardening is a great way to get your whole neighborhood involved.
All it takes is a little soil preparation and a few envelopes of seeds
or a few small starter plants. Tomatoes and green beans are both
easy to grow and produce a lot of harvest. And why not give
pumpkins a try? Then you can have a community carving party
at Halloween. To get the details about starting a community
garden, click here.

3. Collect Canned Food
Make a flyer asking your neighbors to leave a can of food on
their porch on a certain date. Then collect the food and
donate it to your local food bank.

4. Shovel Snow or Rake Leaves
For many elderly or handicapped people, shoveling and
raking can be difficult. Help your neighbors by volunteering
to shovel their snow or rake their leaves. Bring along a few
friends and the work will be done in no time!
